Job Purpose
  • Direct, coordinate, inspect, monitor and document the performance of outside contractors performing construction and maintenance on National Grid generating facilities. Serve as principal on-site interface between contractors and various National Grid operating and engineering departments, municipalities and regulatory agencies. Assure project meets technical specifications and is completed within cost and schedule requirements.
  • Assist the various Power Plant Operation Organizations in the development and implementation of Power Plant Operations, Contractor Work Plan. Monitor and coordinate contractors as well as National Grid construction activities. Evaluate construction progress against schedule and cost plans.
  • Participate in constructability reviews with engineering and operating areas during the project design phase. Recommend engineering changes. Assist with preparation of project cost estimates, detailed CPM schedule and payment schedules.
Key Accountabilities
  • Monitor project progress and contractor perlormance through field inspections covering quantity and quality of work performed.
  • Assist in direction and evaluation of inspections aid testing of materials, equipment and systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of site conditions, work performed and potential scope changes.
  • Determine value of work completed and assist in the review and approval of contractor invoices.
  • Identify and initiate corrective action to resolve problems identified during construction.
  • Interact and cooperate with all levels of Power Plant Operations staff.
  • Coordinates sections work with; Power Plant Maintenance Managers, PMD Outage Managers, Power Engineering, and Purchasing Department
  • Monitor contractor performance and evaluates progress of schedules through field inspections and status reports.
  • Provides system wide technical consultation, direction, and assistance to Field Coordinators and consults personnel on industrial construction practices, methodologies, and procedures.
  • Must be willing to travel to various generation facilities throughout Long Island, to supervise contractors/subcontractors for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
  • Construction contract management, preferrably in gas, oil, or utility
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills are a plus
  • Self-motivator
  • Good Listener
  • Adept in interpreting contract terms, negotiating, and managing contractors to the terms
  • High level competencies in problem solving, conflict resolution, analytics, and influencing to achieve positive outcomes that meet objectives
  • Strong background in Contract Management and/or Construction is a plus

Salary

$123,000 - $144,000 a year
