DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Fiscal Management Specialist 2, you will perform a central role in safeguarding the department's financial health through budget oversight and analytical support. Your primary responsibility will involve monitoring operating expenditures against budgeted amounts to ensure fiscal compliance across program and administrative appropriations. By developing monitoring tools and producing monthly financial reports, you will identify potential budget issues and track cost-containment initiatives, ensuring that OMAP remains financially sound throughout the entire budget cycle. Additionally, you will serve as a vital liaison between program offices, the Procurement Office, and the Comptroller Office to coordinate funding activities and establish expenditure tracking codes. From maintaining complex contract spreadsheets to managing program revision requests, your work will ensure that all fiscal resources are strategically managed and accurately reported.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Management Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in professional fiscal administration, and a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
