Could you be the full-time hybrid APM Obsolescence Management Engineer in Weest Mifflin, PA, US we're looking for?


Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering and obsolescence management expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You'll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless implementation of the Obsolescence Management Process and tools across our APM Rolling Stock, Signaling/Train Wayside, and Infrastructure organizations, driving sustainable solutions and ensuring system longevity. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, and Suppliers), organize and deliver training sessions, guide stakeholders through process adoption, and much more.

We'll look to you for


  • Leading the implementation of the Obsolescence Management Process in line with IEC 62402:2019 & ISO 22163:2023 standards.
  • Coordinating training sessions and guiding functions through the steps required for process adoption.
  • Supporting the development of technical documentation, including Obsolescence Management Plans,Product Breakdown Structures (PBS), and risk assessments.
  • Driving the implementation of the alert procedure by creating and distributing PDN/PCN bulletins.
  • Collaborating with all the Stakeholders PM, Engineering, Procurement and Supply Chain teams to implement the Obsolescence Management Scope of Work and deliverables.
  • Supporting supplier engagement by providing awareness training sessions and ensuring compliance with contractual Obsolescence Management requirements.
  • Introducing suppliers to Alstom's ways of working in obsolescence management by delivering awareness training sessions.
  • Developing and reviewing Obsolescence Management strategies, including systems upgrades and life-limitedparts mitigation.
  • Tracking process implementation progress using existing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Facilitating regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to address barriers and ensure alignment on project status.
  • Providing guidance and support for the development of strategic, sustainable obsolescence solutions, and in other cases take the responsible role to drive the development of Obsolescence Solutions.

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline (Mechatronics, Electromechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical) or equivalent education and training
  • Experience or understanding of design, manufacture, test, or overhaul of equipment for railroad rolling stock (minimum three years)
  • Knowledge of international standards such as IEC 62402:2019 and ISO 22163:2023
  • Familiarity with Obsolescence Management processes, including creating and implementing Obsolescence Management Plans, Product Breakdown Structures (PBS), and mitigation strategies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for conducting training sessions and engaging with stakeholders and suppliers
  • Proficiency in data analysis and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate cross-functional activities
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external teams, including suppliers, to ensure compliance with obsolescence requirements
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to address barriers and propose sustainable solutions
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 15%).
  • Proficiency in MS office suite
  • Open to work with new software applications or tools
