Job Overview:

Ready to own the floor, elevate processes, and deliver quality that holds? Step into our Quality Engineer role at our Mocksville site-where you won't be behind a desk, but on the floor, side-by-side with operators, turning real-time manufacturing challenges into stable, capable processes and consistently high-quality parts. You'll translate what's happening at the machine into clear actions, controls, and measurable improvements in a fast-moving, high-mix/low-volume environment. This role calls for strong judgment, a positive, solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once-from supplier-related concerns to urgent shop-floor issues requiring immediate, data-driven analysis. You'll lead structured problem-solving (leveraging tools like Pareto), strengthen an ISO-driven quality system through effective control plans
and check sheets, and help ensure audit readiness across the site. You'll also play a key role in our next phase of modernization-bringing digital check sheets to life, leveraging Excel-based tools, and continuously raising the bar on how we use technology to drive quality and efficiency.

If you bring a precision machining background (grinding, milling, turning), excel in tight-tolerance environments, and are the go-to problem solver-this is where quality meets manufacturing, and where your impact is felt daily.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Value Stream team to apply and continuously improve existing quality processes, ensuring sustained and improved performance across manufacturing, supplier quality, and advanced quality for new product development.
  • Utilize core quality tools-FMEA, control plans
, functional testing, work instruction development, root cause analysis, corrective action, and training-to drive measurable improvements in critical plant KPIs.

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on customer quality, reliability, and service performance, proactively driving improvements within the assigned business area.
  • Build and strengthen supplier partnerships by educating, developing, auditing, and driving performance improvements across the supplier base.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the overall quality strategy.
  • Apply Lean principles and tools to lead continuous improvement
efforts that meet or exceed annual Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization, as well as with customers and suppliers, to achieve key business objectives.
  • Support plant quality systems and processes, including PPAP, FMEA
, and CAPA activities, as needed.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of quality experience across manufacturing plants or business units, with a proven track record of applying structured, data-driven methods to solve problems and improve processes.
  • 4+ years of engineering
or quality experience in an assembly manufacturing environment

  • 3+ years of experience working within ISO-certified plant quality systems
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience with exposure to electronics assembly, plastics processing, and testing

Core Competencies:

  • Knowledge and exposure to electronics assembly (through-hole/SMT, ESD controls), plastics processing (e.g., extrusion), and assembly testing.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and product specifications.
  • Proven ability to proactively influence, align, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared quality performance goals.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple quality-related tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with a demonstrated track record of driving initiatives and championing innovative ideas for improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferences:

  • Bachelor`s degree concentration in Mechanical, Electrical or Electrical Engineering
    Technology

  • Familiarity with quality sciences such as APQP, problem solving, statistical analysis, root cause analysis, sampling, and PDCA.
  • Knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes including casting (sand, gray iron, precision), machining (lathes, mills, CNC machining, deburring), welding, sheet metal (punching, forming, laser cutting), and finishing (painting, powder coating, plating, anodizing).
  • Machine shop experience with Lean manufacturing background; Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
