UNB is recognized for its collegial culture, impactful research, and strong partnerships with industry, Indigenous leaders and communities, government, and community organizations. Through teaching, discovery, and engagement, UNB plays a vital role in shaping the economic, social, and technological future of the province and the Atlantic region. Reporting to the Board of Governors and working closely with the Senates, Deans Council, senior leadership team, and student leaders, the President and Vice Chancellor will provide visionary and inclusive leadership for the University. Building on recent momentum, the President will guide the continued implementation of institutional priorities, strengthen UNBs national and global profile, and position the University to thrive in an evolving higher education landscape. The President will serve as UNBs principal ambassador and advocate, strengthening relationships with governments, Indigenous leaders and communities, industry partners, donors, alumni, community leaders, and other post-secondary institutions. As a visible and accessible leader, the President will foster a culture of empathy, collaboration, collegial governance, and shared purpose across faculty, staff, and students while advancing academic excellence, research impact, and an exceptional student experience. Working closely with the Provost, Deans Council and senior leadership team, the President will support continued growth in research and innovation, expand experiential learning opportunities, support enrollment growth and student retention, and strengthen partnerships that contribute to economic, scientific, societal, and technological development. The President will also ensure the Universitys financial sustainability and support strategic investments that enhance UNBs academic mission and long-term impact. An accomplished and collaborative leader, the next President will demonstrate significant, successful senior leadership experience in a complex organization, ideally within higher education. They will possess strong strategic and financial acumen, a commitment to academic excellence and student success, and the ability to lead institutional change in a collegial environment. Experience engaging with governments, Indigenous leaders and communities, industry partners, and philanthropic communities will be an important asset, as is the ability to communicate in both official languages.
