Description

The Lipscomb Anesthesiologist Assistant Studies Program is a 28-month Master of Science in Anesthesiology degree program dedicated to training Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants. This dynamic program is launching in August 2026 with an inaugural cohort of 24 students and is working toward initial accreditation through the Accreditation Review Commission for the Anesthesiologist Assistant (ARC-AA).

Position Summary

The Assistant Program Director - Clinical Education & Simulation will be instrumental in establishing and managing the clinical education and simulation training components of this new program. This position will work closely with the Program Director to develop clinical site partnerships, coordinate student clinical rotations, and implement simulation-based training experiences. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced CAA to help build a program from the ground up and shape the clinical education of the next generation of anesthesia providers.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Site Development and Management



  • Manage existing clinical site contracts and establish new clinical partnerships to support program growth
  • Serve as primary liaison between the program and clinical site preceptors
  • Conduct site visits and maintain ongoing relationships with clinical partners
  • Negotiate and develop clinical affiliation agreements as needed


Clinical Rotation Coordination



  • Coordinate student clinical rotations, placements, and scheduling
  • Ensure adequate clinical experiences across required specialty areas
  • Monitor student progress and clinical performance
  • Evaluate student clinical performance in collaboration with preceptors


Simulation-Based Training



  • Develop and implement comprehensive simulation-based training experiences
  • Oversee simulation lab operations, equipment, and educational scenarios
  • Design simulation activities that align with curriculum objectives and ARC-AA standards
  • Assess student competency through simulation-based evaluations


Accreditation and Compliance



  • Contribute to accreditation documentation and compliance with ARC-AA clinical education standards
  • Track and report clinical education outcomes and metrics
  • Participate in accreditation reviews and site visits
  • Ensure clinical training meets all regulatory and accreditation requirements


Student Support and Professional Development



  • Participate in student orientation, clinical preparation, and professional development activities
  • Mentor students in clinical skill development and professional behavior
  • Address student concerns related to clinical experiences


Clinical Practice and Service



  • Maintain part-time clinical practice through Lipscomb partnership opportunities
  • Serve on program and college committees as assigned
  • Support the mission and values of Lipscomb University


Required Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Anesthesiology or related field
  • Current certification as a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA)
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a CAA
  • Demonstrated commitment to education and the advancement of the CAA profession
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse clinical partners
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications



  • 5+ years of clinical experience as a CAA
  • Prior experience in clinical coordination, precepting, or educational program management
  • Experience with simulation-based education and training
  • Familiarity with ARC-AA accreditation standards for clinical education
  • Passion for mentorship and student development
  • Established professional network in the anesthesia community
