*Job Title: Mortgage Closer*
*Job Description*We are seeking a dedicated Mortgage Closer to manage first mortgage loan applications from the initial application stage through to the closing process. This role involves ensuring the efficient processing and closing of loans while maintaining compliance with federal and state laws. *Responsibilities* * Interview and counsel members both face-to-face and over the telephone to take first mortgage loan applications. * Serve as a back-up Counselor for the Call Center, providing detailed information about mortgage and equity loan products. * Evaluate and personalize financing alternatives for applicants. * Process loan applications received via Automated Underwriting System (AUS), review for completeness and integrity, and analyze AUS findings for approved loans. * Determine applicable loan conditions and documentation requirements, advising members accordingly. * Prepare loan disclosures required by federal and state laws, such as the Good Faith Estimate and Truth-In-Lending. * Obtain and verify necessary documentation, including evidence of employment, income, and assets. * Maintain communication with members, Realtors, and sellers regarding loan progress, and resolve any processing issues. * Ensure all loans comply with federal laws and internal requirements. *Essential Skills* * Minimum of one year experience processing and closing first mortgage loans or equity loans. * Basic knowledge of mortgage lending requirements, regulations, and procedures for VA and conventional loan programs. * Ability to efficiently perform major functions with minimal supervision. * Experience with nationwide loans, not limited to state-specific loans. * Proficiency in systems such as Unifi, AUS, and UAD. *Additional Skills & Qualifications* * High school education. * Knowledge of credit union practices and programs. * Coursework in mortgage, financial, or business disciplines. * Paralegal skills and administrative support experience. * Minimum of two years of financial and/or banking experience. *Why Work Here?*Join a dynamic and supportive work environment that offers a hybrid schedule, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance. Working hours are flexible and may vary, with shifts such as 8:30 AM CST to 5:00 PM CST or 10:30 AM CST to 7:00 PM CST. *Job Type & Location* This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winchester, VA. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $19.88 - $19.88/hr.
