FULL SUMMARY

The Worksite Solutions Mining Technology Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing Western States' mining technology business across assigned mining customers and mine sites. This role focuses on account management, expansion of deployed mining technology solutions, and new customer adoption while serving as the primary commercial point of contact for mining technology. The position partners closely with Mining Technology Application Specialists, Mining Sales, Caterpillar, and internal Western States teams to ensure seamless execution, strong customer adoption, and longterm customer success.

Customer Engagement & Business Development



  • Develops and executes strategic account plans to grow mining technology adoption within assigned surface- underground mining & quarry accounts.
  • Identifies opportunities to introduce and expand technology solutions across surface and underground mining operations.
  • Builds strong relationships with customer stakeholders including operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams.
  • Positions Western States as a trusted advisor and solutions provider in mining technology.


Technology Solutions Leadership



  • Serves as the primary expert on Caterpillar mining technology offerings, including fleet management, automation, condition monitoring, and productivity tools.
  • Conducts customer needs assessments and recommend tailored technology solutions that drive measurable value.
  • Supports deployment, integration, and optimization of technology systems in collaboration with internal teams and Caterpillar partners.


Team Selling & Collaboration



  • Partners with Mining Account Managers to support machine sales and product support opportunities through a unified approach.
  • Collaborates with product support sales representatives, technology specialists, and service teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Participates in joint customer visits, presentations, and strategy sessions to align account growth initiatives.
  • Supports training and knowledge-sharing efforts across the Western States support team.


Operational & Technical Support



  • Assists customers with implementation, troubleshooting, and ongoing optimization of mining technology systems.
  • Coordinates with service and technical teams to ensure high levels of system uptime and performance.
  • Monitors key performance metrics and provide insights to customers on improving operational outcomes.
  • Understanding of grade control methodology and processes.
  • Strong consultative selling, communication, and project coordination skills
  • Experience using computers, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven skills in written and verbal communications, planning, organizing, leadership and interpersonal relationship building.
  • Ability to convey complex concepts and systems in clear manner to individuals and larger groups.


  • High energy level and superior time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of MC&G products including but not limited to Caterpillar and Trimble Construction Products and software.
  • Ability to relate to all levels of the workforce.
  • Professional appearance and manner.
  • Ability to travel overnight.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum of two years experience in mining operations, mining technology, or heavy equipment technology sales required.
  • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).


PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:



  • Ability to stand for long periods of time along with walking, sitting, repetitive climbing stairs, reaching (including but not limited to above-shoulder reaching), repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in accordance with Western States' Lifting Policy to include amount and approach.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
