Position: Benefits Specialist Work Location: Columbus, Ohio HQ Employment Type: Full-Time Department: Human Resources Position Summary: The Benefits Specialist will serve as the primary specialist for employee benefits and the organization's Learning Management System (LMS). The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills and thrives in a role that requires both precision and people-centered communication. What You'll Do:
- Administer all benefits plans (e.g. medical, dental, vision, 401k, EAP, STD/ LTD, Life insurance, COBRA plans, etc.)
- Communicate all benefit plans (e.g. system set up, open enrollment, onboarding, employee questions, billing, reporting, data integrity, etc.)
- Conduct new hire orientation for new associates, gather feedback and continuously refresh content to reflect any changes
- Ensure all benefit plans and processes are updated properly in ADP (including but not limited to documents, premiums, eligibility, waiting periods, billing, benefit feeds, and enrollment settings)
- Shared responsibility for leave of absence, FMLA & ADA
- Administer 401(k) Retirement Plan including data feeds, contributions, loan and annual audit requests
- Respond to associate benefit and LMS questions using JIRA and dedicated emails
- Participate in all benefit matters included in the M&A process from due diligence through integration
- Administer and communicate all wellbeing initiatives
- Work closely with benefits consultants and vendors to ensure effective and seamless employee experience
- Responsible for annual Open Enrollment process including plan set up, Open Enrollment event system set up, employee meetings and distributing communications
- Serve as system administrator for the organization's LMS platform
- Build, upload, and maintain course content, learning paths, curricula, and certification tracks
- Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions; troubleshoot access issues, content errors, and learner support requests via ticketing system (JIRA)
- Track completion rates, compliance training deadlines, and learning metrics; provide regular reporting to HR and business leaders.
What You'll Need Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration with working knowledge of group health plans, retirement programs, and applicable federal regulations
- 2+ years of hands-on LMS administration experience (360Learning or Absorb preferred)
- Demonstrated presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inform diverse audiences
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms (ADP preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or CEBS certification (or actively pursuing)
- Experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, or Adobe Captivate
- Prior experience in designing or facilitating new hire orientation programs
- Working knowledge of benefits processes, ACA reporting, COBRA administration, and leave of absence management
- Experience supporting benefits administration in a multi-state or multi-entity environment
