Description

We are looking for a Mortgage Loan Closer to join our Mortgage Loan Processing team. This position plays a key role in supporting the mortgage lending process by ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of all required loan disclosures throughout the life of the mortgage application. This position is responsible for coordinating information, preparing disclosures, and supporting reporting needs to ensure regulatory compliance and exceptional borrower experience.

The Closer works closely with Mortgage Loan Officers, Mortgage Loan Processors, Mortgage Loan Underwriters, Loan Servicing, Compliance, and third-party vendors to obtain required documentation, disclose loans appropriately, and support the efficient and compliant flow of mortgage applications from origination through closing. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines are critical to success in this role.

This position is located on site at our administrative office in Eau Claire, WI.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepares all documents needed to close and fund a loan and protects the bank's security interest using the information supplied by the Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) and Mortgage Loan Processor.
  • Prepares required loan documentation including but not limited to: withdrawn, denied, approved but not accepted or incomplete letters; non-originated packets; final fees and preliminary documentation for borrower; and loan modification documents.
  • Manages timing and delivery method requirements for disclosures throughout the loan process.
  • Finalizes the eFolder ensuring all documents are obtained and in assigned placeholder, confirms closing conditions have been met; prepares and sends closing package to title; confirms closing funds to title; core interface setup and runs internal transactions.
  • Completion of required HMDA data for reporting purposes.
  • Balance appraisal, flood, and secondary income general ledgers as assigned monthly.
  • Assist with rate locks, commitments, and manage pools to Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, or other investors.
  • Reviews loan fees, prepares and sends TRID related borrower disclosures.
  • Confirm funding/wire amount with title and send the wire/transfer funds on the day of loan disbursement
  • Run any internal transactions required (loan activation, payoff of CCF loans, booking of CCF fees, etc.) on day of funding/disbursement.
  • Complete the processing of the loan and forwards to Loan Servicing for timely delivery to the investor.
  • Maintains a close working relationship and corresponds with multiple real estate industry professionals so that all parties can work together to find solutions for problems that may arise during processing.
  • Assures compliance with all Bank policies, procedures and processes, and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules and regulations; adheres to applicable Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field.
    • Substitution: wo (2) years of directly related to full-time experience performing the essential functions outlined above may be considered in lieu of the degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in loan processing or customer service.
