POSITION PURPOSE: This HR Internship provides hands-on experience working alongside a professional HR team, offering exposure to key functional areas including recruitment, employee relations, training and development, HRIS management, benefits administration, compliance, payroll, and HR documentation practices. The role will also support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), employee handbook updates, and accurate record keeping to ensure organizational consistency and compliance.
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and update employee records within the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Learn and support the full-cycle onboarding process, including preparation of new hire documentation, onboarding coordination, and post-orientation follow-up, with the goal of independently managing the process by the end of the internship.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve consistency and efficiency across HR processes.
- Support updates to the employee handbook, including formatting, policy revisions, and version control.
- Ensure proper record keeping practices, including organizing and maintaining both physical and electronic employee files in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Provide administrative support to the HR team, including organizing filing systems, responding to basic employee inquiries, and learning the purchase order (PO) process.
- Assist with HR projects as needed, including research, data analysis, reporting, and presentation development.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and professional documentation (e.g., SOPs, policies).
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects from initiation through completion.
- Prior internship or work experience in HR is a plus but not required.
