Instructor-Cosmetology

Description of Vacant Position: The cosmetology instructor will conduct classes to prepare students to take the written and practical skills exams leading to their New York State Cosmetology License. The instructor will develop and follow the class schedule, creating opportunities for students to earn their required 1,000 hours to sit for the exam. The work year for this position is 195 days assigned over twelve (12) months, July 1st - June 30th.
The instructor must be able to provide instruction and experience in all required aspects of the New York State certification program. Clinical services to the community, state board simulations and customer service enhancement are regular components offered in the program.

Minimum Qualifications:
1) Current New York State Cosmetology License
2) Demonstrated ability to teach the required subject matter
3) Demonstrated knowledge and use of technology including; internet navigation, email access, word processing, etc.
4) At least three years of relevant work experience (salon, spa, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Instructional experience with a diverse population of students
2) At least three years of experience teaching cosmetology
3) Experience working with natural hair
4) NYS Education Department teacher certification in cosmetology
5) Two years of experience teaching cosmetology
6) Certification to teach cosmetology for another state
7) The ability to provide remote instruction
The salary for this position is $55,000. Position start date: July 17, 2026
