Department Summary

The College of Information (COI) at the University of North Texas prepares students, advances knowledge, and serves communities at the intersection of information, people, and technology. COI brings together strengths in data science, health informatics, information science, learning technologies, library science, and linguistics through applied research to address complex challenges facing organizations and society. Through student-centered education, impactful scholarship, and deep engagement with partners across North Texas and beyond, the college advances UNT's public mission by developing talent, discovering knowledge, and driving innovation for the public good.

Position Overview

Supports college-level recruitment and student engagement through program coordination, event planning, and marketing support for the College of Information. Collaborates with the College recruitment team and departments to advance academic and student programs. Requires strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as travel for frequent large-scale events.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of professional related experience in coordinating or administering higher education programming or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

* Strong organizational skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office.
* Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability and strong willingness to travel and interact with various stakeholders, both individually and in groups at campus as well as at external locations.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties



  • Plan and execute recruitment events for COI programs, handling logistics, setup/breakdown, and transportation of promotional materials. Cultivate and maintain a network of on- and off-campus partners to support event planning and execution.
  • Coordinate, manage, and supervise student programs and events, including the Yvonne Chandler Mentorship Program, Student Ambassador Program, Pre-Arrival Engagement Program, Students Helping Students campaign, and other assigned initiatives.
  • Support logistics and arrangements for college speaker events, student engagement events, and other assigned programs. Actively attend and engage at events with large audiences, including students, alumni, donors, and community members.
  • Partner with the College marketing team and Dean to develop and maintain a college-wide marketing strategy. Stay current on UNT policies and University Brand Strategy and Communications (UBSC) guidelines related to marketing, recruitment, and student programming; apply them consistently in daily work. Research industry trends and emerging tools to inform and improve student engagement program development.
  • Identify newsworthy items by coordinating with college staff, faculty, and students, including conducting interviews and gathering photos. Update the College website and post news and events as needed; schedule posts and monitor activity. Guide student ambassadors in creating and updating content for the website, social media, and marketing materials; review and provide editing and feedback.
  • Edit marketing content and materials. Manage inventory and distribution of recruiting materials and giveaways; track counts and coordinate timely reordering with the team.
