The Strategic Growth Leader is responsible for leading and executing business development and growth initiatives for the firm's Geospatial Division (Surveying, SUE/UC, and Remote Sensing). This role focuses on building and expanding relationships and contract opportunities with State and regional stakeholders to expand geospatial services.

This position collaborates closely with other firm and Division leaders and business development teams to position the firm as a trusted partner for integrated, multi-discipline solutions supporting infrastructure and coastal programs.

Responsibilities

    Lead and manage business development initiatives targeting Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), other State agencies, and Water Management Districts, including proposal development, client engagement, and relationship management.
  • Leverage opportunities to gain part-time embedded position with FDEP and FDOT as needed to support key programs.
  • Debrief Geospatial Team on embed activities and identify target areas for growth or improvement to support clients/partners.
  • Identify, pursue, and cultivate relationships with Florida statewide clients, both public and private, to expand the organization's portfolio and market presence. Collaborate with other Strategic Growth and Market Leaders to develop plan and implement growth strategies in key geographies, markets, and disciplines.
  • Broaden the team's reach and impact across FDOT Districts by establishing new contacts/contracts, nurturing existing partnerships, and communicating value to district leadership.
  • Instruct, train, and develop junior WGI associates in alternative contracting mechanisms, including GEC's to gain a position on key teams with partner firms.
  • Identify key hires and target recruitment to strengthen WGI's capacity and capabilities to better serve our Transportation clients.
  • Assist with the development of key training programs for survey technical and field associates to perform important production responsibilities, including right of way mapping.
  • Broaden WGI's QA/QC policy, audits, and standards for more specificity related to Geospatial functions.
  • Support business development activities through networking, attendance at relevant industry events, and active participation in professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with technical experts to ensure high-quality delivery of mapping and geospatial services tailored to client needs.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and opportunities relevant to FDOT, FDEP, and statewide mapping initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and excellence, encouraging staff to find creative solutions and improve processes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to staff, fostering professional growth, technical development, and team collaboration.
  • Refine and implement a Retired-Surveyor Mentorship and Training program.
  • Report on progress, challenges, and achievements related to mentorship, client development, and strategic positioning to leadership.

Other Expectations:

  • Travel to various WGI offices to support employee engagement and training.
  • Collaboration with Transportation Division Business Development team to identify key pursuits and teaming partners.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, GIS, or related field preferred.

Licenses / Certifications

  • Florida PSM Licensure required.
  • Certifications such as PMP, ASPRS certifications, or other relevant credentials are a plus.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience as a PSM
  • 8+ years in progressive leadership roles overseeing geospatial teams or programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing financial performance, budgets, and operational metrics.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong understanding of surveying, engineering, GIS, remote sensing, and related geospatial disciplines.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and ability to interpret financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Strong business development capability and strategic mindset.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze operational trends and ensure KPIs are achieved.
