Victim Services - Public Safety & Police:

UCF Victim Services provides free, comprehensive victim advocacy services to students, faculty, staff, and visitors to campus who have been impacted by crime, violence, or abuse. Victim specialists offer confidential support, crisis intervention, reporting and disclosure options, safety planning, information and referrals, practical assistance, and educational programs.

The Opportunity:

The Victim Advocate provides direct crisis intervention advocacy and support services, including rights and options, in accordance with F. S. S. 960 to any member of the university community who becomes the victim of crime violence or abuse.

Responsibilities:


  • Essential duties include discussing both reporting and disclosure options with victims.

  • Evaluate and provide a safety plan, support services, resources, and referrals to both on and off campus partners.

  • Accompany clients during their engagement with law enforcement and the criminal and/or civil justice system along with campus Title IX and Student Conduct partners.

  • Participate in the on-call rotation to provide response in person or via our hot-line or text line.

  • Attend campus and community partnership meetings as an agency representative.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant toFla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and practices.

  • Understanding of the criminal justice system and Florida state statutes.

  • Any previous experience working in victim advocacy, student conduct, housing or a related area, with a demonstrated understanding of the dimensions of response to victimization.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with student organizations, faculty, staff, administration, community members, and other stakeholders.

  • Strong crisis intervention skills and the ability to communicate sensitive information with empathy and professionalism.

  • Familiarity with law enforcement procedures and relevant Florida laws.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a stressful, intense environment.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate as part of a team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.

  • Ability to effectively interact with individuals from varied backgrounds and experiences.

  • Capable of connecting individuals with appropriate services and resources.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:


  • This position requires mandatory participation in the "on-call" rotation to answer hot-line calls and respond "in person" as requested by Law Enforcement or Victim Services outside of regular office hours as needed, per department protocol, and other occasional evening and weekend hours and will be compensated accordingly.

  • Must reside within or be able to respond "in person" within an hour of notification.

  • Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.

  • May be eligible for a take home vehicle.

  • Selected candidate must pass a comprehensive background investigation.

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $17.64 to $23.60. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

  • This is a Contract and Grant (C&G), time-limited funding position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.
