What to Expect

As a Commissioning and Start-up Electrician, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of the electrical systems that support critical facility infrastructure. This role involves hands-on work, where you will actively engage in commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems.You'll work closely with Construction, Commissioning, Facilities Operations and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality electrical services, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the facility.


What You'll Do
  • Perform pre-energization checks on newly constructed electrical systems
  • Perform troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of electrical equipment to support the facility's critical infrastructure
  • Collaborate with other electricians to install electrical systems, including panels, circuits, lighting, and commercial equipment, following construction documents and verbal instructions
  • Diagnose and repair electrical components such as contactors, relays, motors, and motor controls to ensure continuous operation of facility systems
  • Conduct detailed testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems, including relay controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, and motor circuits using standard electrical testing methods
  • Install and connect electrical systems, such as motor feeders, junction boxes, and distribution systems, ensuring all work complies with codes and standards
  • Operate mobile equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts, to perform electrical tasks at various heights and locations within the facility

What You'll Bring
  • Strong knowledge of Control of Hazardous Energy policies (Lock Out / Tag Out)
  • Understanding of electrical principles and theories, including voltage and current
  • Ability to work at high elevations and read electrical schematics and proficiency in basic mathematics and electrical testing
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting experience in Low Voltage systems. Medium voltage experience is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, NFPA 70e, OSHA)
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods and lift at least 10-20 lbs. regularly
  • Familiarity with protection relays, breaker trip settings, and electrical testing equipment
