Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 0-3 years' experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Strong consideration will be given to those fluent or conversational in Spanish.

Position Summary
The Fellow will support the mission of the Jane W. Wilson Family Justice Clinic as determined by the Director including representing low-income victims of domestic violence and stalking in emergency protective order proceedings and other domestic relations matters, supervision of law students representing clients under the Student Practice Act, and community outreach and education. This is a 2-year position, with the second year dependent on performance and funding.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Possess a JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of legal principles and the ability to meet licensure requirements for the practice of law in the State of Georgia, including current admission to the Georgia Bar or preparedness to sit for the July 2026 Georgia Bar Examination, with the capability to obtain full Georgia bar admission within one year of employment.
  • Demonstrated skill in advocacy and representing clients.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to work with victims of domestic violence and stalking.
  • Skilled in engaging with low-income populations.
  • Knowledge in community outreach and education.
  • Strong advocacy and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed lawyering practices.

Duties/Responsibilities
Lead or co-counsel with director in client representation for the Clinic in Superior Courts, with potential for co-counsel in appellate courts and/or Federal courts; supervising law students in all aspects of client representation including intake, client meetings, and courtroom representation; responsibility for accepting/declining Clinic cases in conjunction with the director; communicating with courts/court personnel, counsel, and service providers; drafting and filing pleadings; legal research; local and state policy advocacy on issues of domestic violence and stalking.
