The SEC Reporting Accountant II supports the preparation and filing of SEC reports including Forms 10 Q, 10 K, and 8 K, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role prepares key internal and external financial reporting deliverables and partners closely with management, auditors, and other accounting and finance teams.
Job Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to
- Prepare and support SEC filings and related disclosures, including Forms 10K, 10Q, 8K, Section 16 filings, proxy statements, and annual climate sustainability report
- Coordinate with Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Legal, Investor Relations, operational finance teams, and external auditors on financial reporting deliverables
- Perform tie-outs of SEC and other filings as directed and maintain supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness and internal review compliance
- Support the quarterly earnings release process in coordination with Investor Relations
- Review peer filings and reporting practices to identify opportunities for improvement
- Review and validate XBRL tagging in financial statements and footnotes
- Prepare GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists and assist with accounting research and technical memos
- Meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to swiftly grasp new ideas in a fast-paced reporting environment
- Effectively communicate at all organizational levels and work independently or within a team
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and other ad hoc reporting initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 3+ years of combined SEC reporting or public accounting experience
- 2+ years of experience with U.S. GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, and internal controls
- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and SUMIF formulas
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA certification
- Oil & gas upstream accounting experience
- Experience with Workiva reporting software
- Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and communication skills
