Job Description

A remote Mechanical Designer job supporting themed entertainment projects is currently available through Belcan for a major live experience and entertainment client. In this role, you will work daily in both AutoCAD (3D) and Autodesk Inventor, actively developing, modifying, and maintaining mechanical designs across both platforms. The position is heavily focused on updating and refining existing designs, including structural systems and motionbased mechanisms used in show and ride applications. Candidates must be comfortable switching between AutoCAD 3D and Inventor as part of normal workflow, using each tool where it best fits the design or documentation need. This position is remoteeligible, with limited projectbased travel as required.

Job Duties:
Actively develop, modify, and maintain mechanical designs using both AutoCAD (3D) and Autodesk Inventor
Update existing AutoCAD 3D layouts, models, and design packages, including structural frameworks and spatial coordination models
Modify and refine Inventor 3D parts, assemblies, and fabrication drawings for structural and mechanical systems
Transition designs between AutoCAD 3D and Inventor as required by project standards, legacy data, or customer deliverables
Update mechanical and motion systems including actuatordriven mechanisms, motorized assemblies, and linkage systems
Produce accurate, fabricationready drawings with proper dimensions, tolerances, notes, and bills of material
Manage revisions and change control using Autodesk Vault or equivalent CAD data management tools
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and controls teams to implement design updates across both CAD platforms
Participate in design reviews to verify accuracy, constructability, and integration with other disciplines

Required Skills Qualifications
Minimum Five to seven years of mechanical design experience, with regular professional use of both AutoCAD (3D) and Autodesk Inventor
Demonstrated ability to work fluidly between AutoCAD 3D and Inventor, not just familiarity with one tool
Strong experience updating existing CAD data, not only creating new designs from scratch
Handson experience producing and modifying fabricationready drawings
Solid understanding of mechanical structures, weldments, brackets, and assemblies
Working knowledge of mechanical mechanisms such as actuators, motors, linkages, or motion systems
Experience using Autodesk Vault or similar revision and datamanagement systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and adherence to standards

Preferred:
Experience in themed entertainment, live entertainment, animatronics, show action equipment, or ride/show systems
Experience coordinating mechanical designs across multiple CAD platforms on the same project
Exposure to fabrication and shop practices
Experience supporting legacy AutoCAD designs alongside newer 3D Inventor models
Experience with additional CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, or Onshape) is a plus, but not required.
