The Loss Prevention & Recovery Collector is responsible for contacting charged-off accounts to attempt recovery, place accounts with the external collections vendor, send collection letters if needed, contact potential charge-off accounts to obtain collection in order to prevent charge-off, work and resolve assigned client disputes, prepare various charge-off and recovery management reports, answer and if time permits performs the duties of a Collector.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Loss Prevention & Recovery Collector is responsible for contacting charged-off accounts to attempt recovery, place accounts with the external collections vendor, send collection letters if needed, contact potential charge-off accounts to obtain collection in order to prevent charge-off, work and resolve assigned client disputes, prepare various charge-off and recovery management reports, answer and resolve in-bound calls placed to the Corporate Billing Customer Service Queue, if time permits performs the duties of a Collector.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Work potential charge-offs in a timely manner to prevent loss
  • Work charge-offs to attempt recovery
  • Evaluate and place accounts for collection efforts by the third-party collection's vendor
  • Work and resolve assigned client disputes in a timely and accurate manner
  • Document collection and recovery efforts in the cbCentral system in a clear and concise manner
  • Prepare management reports accurately and by timeframes prescribed
  • Communicate in a clear and professional manner; provide courteous customer service
  • When necessary, performs essential duties of Collector

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENICES

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as excellent customer relations skills
  • Must have 2 years or more collection experience
  • Must be able to function effectively as part of a team and must possess the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with employees, management and external customers
  • General computer skills including e-mail usage; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
  • Must effectively manage workflow and assignments-appropriately prioritizing work. Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
