VP, Leader of Compensation and Benefits

Position Summary

The Vice President, Leader of Compensation and Benefits is responsible for the strategic direction, governance, and execution of the organization's Compensation and Benefits philosophy and programs. This role ensures that compensation and benefits are competitive, compliant, scalable, and aligned with business strategy and talent objectives.

The VP serves as the company's subject matter authority on executive compensation, providing expert guidance to the CHRO, executive leadership, and the Board of Directors. The role balances strategic design with operational rigor, ensuring programs are delivered effectively while supporting attraction, retention, performance, and long term value creation.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Compensation & Benefits Strategy & Leadership
* Establish and lead the enterprise strategy regarding compensation, benefits, and executive compensation programs.
* Ensure compensation and benefits align with business objectives, talent strategy, financial goals, and company culture.
* Serve as a trusted advisor to the CHRO and executive leadership on rewards related strategy, trends, and risk considerations.
Executive Compensation & Governance
* Lead the design, implementation, and administration of executive compensation programs, including base pay, annual incentives, long term incentive plans, equity programs, and employment agreements.
* Partner with Legal, Finance, and external advisors to support board level governance, Compensation Committee materials, and executive pay disclosures as applicable.
* Provide analysis, modeling, and recommendations related to executive pay competitiveness, performance alignment, and retention risk.
* Ensure executive compensation programs are compliant with applicable regulations and governance standards.
Compensation Programs
* Oversee enterprise compensation strategy, including job architecture, salary structures, incentive plans, and pay equity practices.
* Ensure compensation programs support performance differentiation and internal equity while remaining market competitive.
* Guide annual compensation planning cycles, including merit, incentive, and equity processes.
Benefits & Wellness Oversight
* Provide strategic oversight of health, welfare, retirement, leave, and wellness programs through the VP, Benefits & Wellness.
* Ensure benefit offerings are competitive, cost effective, compliant, and supportive of employee wellbeing.
* Partner with Finance and Benefits leadership on cost management, vendor strategy, and long term sustainability.
Financial Management & Risk Oversight
* Own Compensation and Benefits budgeting, forecasting, and long term cost planning in partnership with Finance.
* Identify and manage compliance, regulatory, and operational risks related to compensation and benefits.
* Ensure strong governance, documentation, and controls across all compensation and benefits.
Leadership & Team Development
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing Compensation and Benefits team.
* Foster strong cross functional collaboration with Finance, Legal, IT, and business leaders.
* Promote a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Education & Experience
* Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
* 8+ years of progressive experience in Total Rewards, Compensation, or related HR leadership roles.
* Extensive, hands on experience with executive compensation plan design and governance.
* Demonstrated success leading enterprise compensation and benefits functions.
* Experience partnering with Boards of Directors or Compensation Committees strongly preferred.
* Proven ability to lead complex programs in a growing or evolving organization.

* Deep expertise in executive compensation, including incentive design, equity programs, performance alignment, and governance.
* Strong understanding of compensation and benefits best practices.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business strategy into effective reward programs.
* Advanced financial, analytical, and modeling skills.
* Executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and board level stakeholders.
* Strong leadership and people development capabilities.
* Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics clearly and credibly.
* High degree of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment.
* Collaborative, results oriented leader with a continuous improvement mindset.
