This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse Fabricators, and Engineers, you will fabricate/weld hardware for various fluid systems supporting fabrication, install, maintain, and troubleshoot ground support equipment (GSE), including pumps, tanks, valves, and fluid system plumbing supporting LOX pads, fuel pads, and facility systems

The Fabrication Technician (Fluid Systems) supports the development, operation, and maintenance of ground support equipment (GSE) and fluid system infrastructure. This role is responsible for fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of systems supporting liquid oxygen (LOX), fuel operations, and related pad buildout/test facility equipment.

This role involves working from engineering blueprints to create tubing/piping systems, and customized pneumatic panels supporting field installs. The position requires adaptability, as priorities often shift rapidly to meet tight mission-critical timelines.

This position will report to the production manager and directly supports our manufacturing integration teams.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with pressurized, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems
  • Build, install, maintain, and troubleshoot ground support equipment (GSE), including pumps, tanks, valves, and fluid system plumbing supporting LOX pads, fuel pads, and facility systems
  • Operate and maintain high-pressure systems, pumps, pneumatic components, and associated equipment
  • Fabricate, modify, and repair GSE hardware and related mechanical systems
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and instrumentation
  • Collaborate with design engineers to support development and documentation of GSE systems and processes
  • Ensure all materials and systems meet Clean for Oxygen Service standards
  • Support construction and maintenance of LOX and fuel farms, including associated infrastructure
  • Follow all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, ASME, NEC, and company procedures)
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability of testing operations
  • Support vehicle, launch pad, and development program activities as required
  • Maintain required licenses, certifications, and operator permits
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed to support testing and operational milestones
  • Ability to lift-up to 50 lbs. (assisted as needed) performing physically demanding tasks, including standing, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and working in confined spaces
  • Willingness to work in extreme outdoor conditions (heat, cold, rain)
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to noise, fumes, and odors
  • Ability to work at heights up to 150 feet
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as required

Desired:

  • Some technical coursework and/or AA technical degree/equivalent.
  • Orbital Tube Welding (OTW) experience is a plus.
  • Experience in aerospace, military, or other high-reliability environments
  • Direct experience with ground support equipment (GSE) in aerospace or similar industries
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, and general shop equipment
  • Proven problem-solving ability in fast-paced, high-consequence environments
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems, hydraulic systems, and pumps
  • Experience performing vacuum leak testing per ASME standards
  • Familiarity with fluid system fittings (e.g., NPT, AN)
  • Experience with precision tube bending and fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs (piping and instrumentation diagrams)
  • Understanding of hazardous systems, including cryogenic, flammable, hypergolic, and pyrophoric materials
  • Knowledge of high-pressure system design, operation, and safety practices

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
