Position Title: Phlebotomist III

Work Location: 2410 Centerville Place, Tallahassee, FL 32301

Assignment Duration: 3 months

Work Schedule: 1st Shift / 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Monday-Friday)

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Vaccines Required:

RTB

(Hepatitis B offered but may be declined)

Color Vision Screening Required: Yes

They will be drawing, processing, and handling specimens for patients of all ages including pediatric and geriatric populations. We are looking for at least 3 years of phlebotomy experience.

* How many draws are required daily 30-40


Position Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations while ensuring high-quality patient care and specimen integrity.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures (urine, fecal, etc.) to patients.
  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Understand and follow all physician orders accurately.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport while maintaining integrity and required conditions.
  • Store specimens at appropriate temperatures and in proper containers per protocol.
  • Follow all OSHA and DEP regulations and safety standards.
  • Participate in annual department trainings and ongoing education.
  • Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory-related information as needed.


Qualification & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; 3+ years preferred
  • Experience performing venipuncture in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer knowledge
  • Strong patient interaction and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment and stand for extended periods
