| Position Summary |
The Temporary Collections Management Technician provides essential public service and materials-handling support. This position assists with circulation and access services, including shelving, shifting, and transporting library materials; staffing service points; and supporting alternative service delivery during building closures.
Collection Maintenance & Space Management responsibilities include:
* Move Library materials between buildings and storage locations using carts and other equipment.
* Shift, shelve, and sort Library materials according to established procedures.
* Support document delivery and materials processing workflows.
* Maintain accurate organization of materials and report missing or damaged items.
* Assist with curbside pickup services, including pulling materials and preparing items for patron pickup.
Customer Service & Access Support (Service Desk) responsibilities include:
* Staffing the Davis Service Desk, providing basic circulation, directional, and customer service assistance to Library users
* Supervising and managing the work of students staffing the service point.
* Assisting with opening and closing procedures and occasionally substituting for staff that are on leave.
* Provide Library services during building closures, including alternative access services as assigned.
* Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Library operations. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Management Preferences |
* Demonstrated success working in library public services
* Working knowledge of integrated library systems or automated circulation systems (e.g., Sierra, ILLiad)
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
* Demonstrated attention to detail |
| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
* Ability to move up to approximately 40 lbs., or a fully loaded book cart with or without accommodations.
* Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and stoop for extended periods.
* Ability to move carts of Library materials between locations and buildings with or without accommodations.
* Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed for materials transport. |
