SUMMARY:

Reports to the Psychiatric Director on a consulting Behavioral Health Team at one of the child welfare, child forensic, juvenile legal system, or residential programs.

Coordinates, oversees, and develops outpatient and residential programs to ensure quality and timely provision of care to patients. Provides direct patient care, serves as a resource person, and assists the Psychiatric Director in administrative tasks. Assists with recruitment, hiring, orientation, and assessment of professional and support staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Applies advanced knowledge and skills to ensure residential and carceral care services are of the highest level, and consistent with current evidence and best clinical practice standards.

Clinical and Leadership Responsibilities

*Demonstrates clinical and administrative effectiveness providing leadership to the combined behavioral and nursing staff/patient Program milieu.

*Utilizes clinical and administrative expertise to make informed judgments regarding patient care assignments to clinical staff.

*Participates in staffing for current and ongoing individual and group therapy sessions.

*Supports clinical staff to develop and maintain patient advocacy roles.

*Models and support clinical staff to resolve conflicts and concerns with patients and with agency staff through direct communication and proactive problem solving.

*Strictly adheres to facility/program policies and procedures, Joint Commission Hospital and Behavioral Health Program and other appropriate accreditation standards.

*Communicates and documents significant clinical administrative findings to Psychiatric Director in a timely fashion.

*Prioritizes the maintenance of a safe and dignified patient care setting.

*Demonstrates clinical leadership expertise in the supervision, teaching, and evaluation of clinical staff.

*Ensures all staff participate in, understand, and carry out treatment plans for patients, including specific behavioral or sensory interventions as ordered by the clinical team.

*Participates in treatment planning, threshold meetings, debriefs, training and consultations, and specific case conferences as available.

*Assists in coordinating the orientation of new staff members, and evaluation of clinical competence.

*Coordinates in-service and education programs, including maintenance of education records and mandatory learning

*Collect data for submission to NDNQI and other quality reporting databases.

*Facilitates and directs learning opportunities based on identified staff/department needs.

*Participates in department quality assurance processes and audits staff documentation for quality, timeliness, and adherence to department policy.

Recommend quality assurance indicators as appropriate.

Additional responsibilities:

*Effectively manages time, recognizing and prioritizing urgent issues while assuring assigned work is completed - delegates tasks appropriately.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Master's degree in any human services field required, such as social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology from an accredited graduate school.

Current independent license from State of Rhode Island required (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT) Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life

span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

EXPERIENCE: Over three years of relevant experience with demonstrated competence in an interdisciplinary treatment setting including supervisory and administrative ability.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Performs independently within Program policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of Program policies and procedures may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Supervisory responsibility for up to 50 FTE's.

Pay Range:

$90,729.60-$149,697.60
