What to Expect

Tesla's Advanced R&D Prototyping Department is at the forefront of taking Prototype Designs and producing highly accurate physical properties for the different development Teams within New Programs Engineering. Through close collaboration with fellow machinists', fabricators, engineers, and leadership, we enhance the design of systems and components from concept through production by bringing intangible ideas to reality.

As a CNC Programmer/CNC 3-Axis Machinist, you will contribute to a range of products from concept and pre-production vehicles, energy systems, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other future-facing products. You will be constantly challenged and learning new things with the evolution of technology and direction of the company.


What You'll Do
  • Efficiently program (MaterCam), setup, and run a Kitamura Mycenter-3XV Vertical Machining w/Arumatik-Mi Pro Control 3-Axis high-speed CNC Mill
  • Efficiently program, set up, and run a FLOW Mach 100 waterjet machine
  • Work directly with engineers to review designs, project requirements, and provide DFM feedback
  • Cut materials, build tooling, design and build fixtures, write, prove, and run programs at the machine, then deburr/finish parts followed by measuring and validating part to meet engineering specifications
  • Program/Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlines
  • Assist with fabrication/assembly tasks as needed by surrounding Teams
  • Use creative methods to fixture one-off prototype machined components
  • Maintain shop equipment and keep your workplace clean and always organized
  • Perform assignments in a safe manner while adhering to security policies

What You'll Bring
  • 5 Years of CNC program and 3-Axis milling prototype industry-related experience (5-Axis is a plus)
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineered drawings and documents
  • Strong knowledge of conventional mill/lathe machining methods
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical information through verbal, email, and text
  • Positive energy and attitude with a passion for prototyping and machining
  • Flexibility, ability to work overtime on short notice and based on strategic needs for the company
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management
  • Absolute team player and willing to travel if needed
  • Able to lift 50lbs.

    Expected Compensation
    $26.14 - $53.01/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
