Description

Become part of an inclusive organization with over 40,000 teammates, whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of the unique communities we serve.

Summary:

Reporting directly to the CMO, this role is authorized to act on the CMO's behalf to translate strategy, bylaws, and regulatory obligations into reliable, repeatable operational execution across UNC Hospitals. This role is intentionally focused on the non-quality responsibilities of the CMO, complementing the enterprise quality infrastructure supported through Unified Quality. Key Responsibilities:

Medical Staff Governance & Administration

*Provide day to day operational leadership for Medical Staff governance, including support for the Medical Executive Committee, standing committees, ad hoc committees, and physician leadership councils. *Oversee operational execution of Medical Staff bylaws and policies. *Serve as a trusted operational partner to the CMO and Associate CMOs, ensuring governance processes are timely, defensible, and consistently applied.

Enterprise Clinical Operations Support

*Lead and coordinate CMO owned enterprise initiatives that cut across departments and hospitals, ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and follow through. *Translate executive direction into structured plans, timelines, metrics, and decision points. *Standardize operating rhythms, dashboards, and reporting for the CMO office.

Physician Leadership Infrastructure

*Operationally manage large scale physician leadership structures, including medical director roles and contracts, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and consistent oversight processes. *Reduce operational burden on physician leaders by designing efficient workflows, templates, and governance structures. Regulatory & Risk Sensitive Work *Ensure consistent execution of CMO owned regulatory and administrative processes that are enterprise wide and highly regulated. Leadership & Influence *Act on behalf of the CMO with credibility in a matrixed, physician led environment. *Build strong working relationships with department chairs, ACMOs, directors of operations, and system partners. *Lead through influence rather than direct authority, aligning diverse stakeholders around shared goals. .
