*IBMI/ COBOL Developer*
*Location:* Concord NH *Contract: *1 year *Work type*: Bases on location EST hours * Candidates local who can be onsite fully will be most strongly preferred, followed by candidates who are local enough to be able to be onsite in either a hybrid schedule or at least occasional basis. If client can't find strong local candidates, they will then consider fully remote candidates. *Position Overview* This role serves as the primary technical authority responsible for sustaining, supporting, and optimizing a mature *IBM i (AS/400)* environment and its *COBOL****based business applications*. The focus is on system stability, production support, troubleshooting, and ongoing enhancements driven by regulatory and business process changes rather than new application development. In addition to daytoday support, this role will contribute to a longterm *platform migration from IBM i to* *Hyland OnBase WorkView*, providing technical input on data transitions, integrations, testing, and operational continuity. *Required* *Qualifications* * Minimum *5 years of experience* developing and supporting *COBOL applications on IBM i (AS/400)*. * Strong handson experience with *CL, DDS, and DB2 for i (SQL)*. * Experience with IBM i tools, including *Access Client Solutions (ACS)* and *Navigator for i*. * Strong background in *batch processing and job scheduling*. * Experience troubleshooting production systems in a legacy or mature technical environment. * Exposure to or experience with *Hyland OnBase WorkView*. * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. *Key Responsibilities* *Primary Responsibilities - System Support &* *Optimization (Approx. 90%)* * Maintain and support COBOL applications running on IBM i (AS/400), ensuring performance, stability, and reliability. * Diagnose and resolve application, batch, and system issues by efficiently identifying root causes and implementing fixes with minimal direction. * Manage and enhance batch processing, job scheduling, file transfers, and system integrations. * Monitor system health, job queues, and performance indicators to proactively address potential issues. * Support SQL-based data access using DB2 for i, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. * Provide support for emulator-related issues (PC5250), output management, print queues, and spool files. * Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve production issues. * Create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and operational runbooks. *Secondary Responsibilities - Migration &* *Administration (Approx. 10%)* * Support the transition from IBM i applications to *Hyland's OnBase WorkView platform*, including data migration planning, integration support, and testing. * Assist with user profile administration, authority management, and job scheduling. * Support backup and recovery processes (BRMS). * Participate in testing, validation, and postimplementation support for upgrades and migration efforts. *Work Requirements &* *Expectations* * Ability to work *alternative schedules*, including evenings or weekends, for planned maintenance, system upgrades, urgent troubleshooting, or migration activities. * Candidates must be able to work *Eastern Time Zone hours*. * *Remote candidates must reside within the continental United States* and remain within the U.S. while in this role. * Local candidates with availability for *onsite or hybrid work* are strongly preferred. *Education & References* * Any degrees, certifications, or training listed on the resume must include *date obtained*. * *Three professional references* are required upon submission: * Must be supervisory references * At least one reference must be from a role similar in scope * References must include full name, phone number, email address, and relationship details *Ideal Candidate Profile* The ideal candidate is a selfdirected, detailoriented technical professional who is comfortable working in stable legacy environments, enjoys problemsolving, and takes ownership of system reliability.
