Adjunct Instructor

The Department of Teaching and Learning within the College of Education at the University of Iowa is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for the following 3-semester hour course to be taught in the Summer 2026 semester for the Regents Alternative Pathway to Iowa Licensure (RAPIL) Program:

• EDTL:3063 - Creating Classrooms for Teaching and Learning
  
  
  
  
  • This online course is designed to familiarize students with research-based principles, concepts, and developmentally appropriate practices for creating classrooms conducive to teaching and learning. Students learn concepts and principles that teachers use when thinking about the managerial tasks that teachers encounter in the classroom, including home-school communication.
  
  
  
  

Ideal Faculty Candidate will have:

Secondary classroom teaching and/or administrative experience (3 or more years preferred).

Experience working with or supporting teachers new to the profession.

An understanding of the Iowa Teaching Standards and InTASC standards for educator preparation.

Successful experience with creating course scope and sequence based on best practice research.

Demonstrated success as a positive collaborator and establishing equitable working partnerships.

Good organizational skills and ability to maintain a rigorous pace with instruction and grading.

University-level teaching experience in education-related courses in some or all of the focus areas above.

Experience teaching with technology and/or online courses.
