Position Summary
Professional Academic Advisor & Student Success Coach Tier III
Position Overview
The University invites applications for the position of Professional Academic Advisor and Student Success Coach Tier III. This senior-level role serves as a key leader within the student success framework, providing comprehensive, holistic advising and success coaching to support students from enrollment through graduation. The Tier III Advisor is committed to fostering academic achievement, personal development, and career readiness through proactive, student-centered engagement.
Grounded in the NACADA Core Competencies, this position promotes student persistence, retention, and timely degree completion by delivering high-impact advising practices and leading strategic student success initiatives.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned caseload of students from matriculation through graduation, including students in targeted populations and those with upper division academic pathways.
  • Advise students with specialized degree requirements, including dual enrollment, dual majors, online, and academic recovery plans.
  • Provide individualized, strengths-based advising and coaching that supports academic planning, goal setting, decision-making, time management, and self-advocacy.
  • Guide students in course selection, major and career exploration, and the development of integrated academic and career plans aligned with degree and life goals.
  • Audit student academic records, evaluate degree progress, review transcripts, and advise students on appropriate academic actions.
  • Provide retention services for students participating in academic improvement or academic recovery programs.
  • Monitor student registration activity, academic performance, and progress toward degree completion, initiating timely interventions as needed.
  • Audit student records for curriculum, major, and graduation requirements; conduct degree audits and graduation checkouts.
  • Evaluate transfer credit, compare transcripts against entrance and graduation requirements, and determine degree applicability.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential student advising records and documentation in institutional systems.

Minimum Qualifications
* Master's degree in a related field, or equivalent training and experience.
* Minimum of five years of experience in academic advising or student success coaching.
* Experience advising student groups with specialized support needs.
* Experience with early alert, CRM, or retention management systems (e.g., EAB Navigate, Starfish, or Anthology).
* Experience utilizing data analytics and retention management systems to guide interventions.

Preferred Qualifications
* Active NACADA membership or participation.
* Proven success in collaborative, data-driven student success initiatives.
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
