Data Center Project Manager

Job Summary
The Project Manager oversees the full lifecycle of data center and network infrastructure projects, ensuring effective planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of structured cabling and low-voltage installations. This role is responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, materials procurement, testing oversight, and project documentation while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The Project Manager collaborates closely with internal teams, field crews, customers, and trade partners to ensure successful project delivery within scope and timeline expectations. This position also supports customer relationship management by providing consistent communication, resolving project issues, and identifying opportunities for additional services.

Job Responsibilities




  • Manage the full project lifecycle, including presales support, planning, execution, closeout, and post-installation activities.



  • Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and work sequencing in coordination with other trades.



  • Coordinate field installation crews, subcontractors, vendors, and customer teams to ensure efficient and high-quality project delivery.



  • Conduct daily site walks, inspections, and progress reviews to verify compliance with project specifications and quality standards.



  • Monitor project milestones, budgets, labor utilization, and material usage, implementing corrective actions when necessary.



  • Oversee project documentation, including daily reports, test results, as-built drawings, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documentation.



  • Manage change control processes and secure proper approvals for scope modifications and additional work.



  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment logistics, inventory management, and site access requirements.



  • Enforce safety standards, OSHA compliance, and proper use of PPE and job site protocols.



  • Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and ongoing coaching and training for field personnel.



  • Attend coordination meetings with general contractors and trade partners to resolve scheduling and installation conflicts.



  • Provide regular project updates, site walkthroughs, and communication to customers and internal stakeholders.



  • Review project financials, invoicing, accounts receivable, pending awards, and billing schedules to ensure alignment with contract requirements.



  • Identify and support additional service opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships.



  • Oversee testing, commissioning, punch list completion, and final client acceptance activities.



  • Maintain accurate project management system updates and administrative records throughout all project phases.




Job Requirements




  • 5-7 years of experience in structured cabling, low-voltage, or data and telecommunications infrastructure projects.



  • 3-5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in roles such as Lead Technician, Foreman, or Assistant Project Manager.



  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing projects from initiation through completion.



  • Experience working in data center, commercial, or colocation environments required.



  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, scheduling, budgeting, and change management processes.



  • Knowledge of voice, data, fiber optic, and wireless installation project delivery.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.



  • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification preferred.



  • RCDD certification preferred but not required.



  • Ability to interpret project drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.



  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.



  • Ability to stand and walk active job sites and safely work within construction environments.



  • Must possess and maintain required low-voltage tools and applicable PPE.




Education




  • Associate degree or college degree preferred.




Work Experience




  • Prior experience managing technical infrastructure, structured cabling, or data center construction projects required.



  • Experience coordinating with general contractors, subcontractors, and multiple trades on active construction sites preferred.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Fully onsite position supporting data center new build projects.



  • Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM.



  • Project environment includes active construction and data center facilities.
