Organizational Unit Overview
The Office of Student Services is part of the College of Nursing in the Division of Academic Affairs. Student Services is responsible for the oversight of recruitment, admission, advisement of intended and declared nursing majors, registration, clinical compliance, and graduation services in the college. This office serves approximately 1,500 intended majors, 650 declared undergraduate majors, 650 graduate students, and 30 doctoral students, as well as numerous prospective students.
Job Duties
Academic Advising (70%)
* Guide students in major and career exploration.
* Support academic planning, course selection, and registration.
* Advise students about the University's academic policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Provide referrals to appropriate campus resources.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date advising records.
* Engage students in regular meetings to provide support tailored to individual student needs.
* Collaborate with faculty and staff.
* Utilize technology and university software to support advising.
* Evaluate pre-licensure and accelerated BSN admission applications.
* Ensure students have met graduation requirements prior to graduation.

Teaching (10%)
* Teach COAD 1000 - Student Development and Learning in Higher Education.
* Implement course objectives through effective design and teaching strategies.
* Develop a course syllabus to align with course goals and student needs.
* Provide students with timely and ample feedback on work submitted.
* Maintain organized and current course records.

Recruitment and Retention (15%)
* Engage in recruitment efforts such as Open House, Admitted Student Day, and new student orientations.
* Meet with prospective students and families.
* Participate and contribute to retention strategies that will enhance student satisfaction, engagement, and success.
Develop and implement programming to facilitate student success and retention.

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
* Other duties may include: professional development, contribution and engagement on taskforce and committee work, projects related to initiatives for student success, retention, and graduation, and essential office needs.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master's degree in nursing, counseling, or education, or a related field.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Extensive knowledge of the requirements for the degree program in the College of Nursing.
Knowledge of degree requirements for related programs in other areas.
