WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Mechanical Drafter / Pipe Detailer supports complex infrastructure and mechanical system projects by producing high-quality 2D/3D mechanical and piping drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks. This position combines field verification, laser scanning, and BIM coordination with traditional drafting responsibilities to support fabrication, installation, and coordination efforts. Lead detailing on high-profile NYC infrastructure projects. Core Responsibilities:



  • Produce detailed fabrication and installation drawings for piping, boilers, and mechanical systems.
  • Produce accurate shop, fabrication and as-built drawing sets
  • Ability to work in a team/collaborative environment
  • Works independently and able to make decisions with limits of authority
  • Use 3D tools (Revit, Navisworks, Faro, etc.) to support BIM coordination and clash detection.
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and capture field data.
  • Collaborate across engineering, project management, and field operations.
  • Support logistics planning, QA/QC, RFIs, submittals, and as-built documentation.
  • Visualization and Marketing - support in creating of marketing materials and presentations



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in construction, engineering, or drafting
  • 2-5 years of experience in mechanical drafting/detailing (field or shop experience a plus)
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with Navisworks and BIM 360 preferred
  • Familiarity with construction codes and relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, architectural, and structural drawings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills



Physical Requirements:

Applicants must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position which may include:



  • Lifting of equipment (10-25 pounds)
  • Occasional confined space work
  • Extended periods of standing
  • Exposure to outdoor elements (cold, rain, snow, heat)
