| Position Purpose |
Under the general direction of a senior leader provides administrative oversight and process structure for the day-to-day operations of the office, the strategic planning of communications, and supervision of staff. Responsible for the coverage of a number of men's and women's sports, Allocates and organizes resources to support individual events. Serves as media liaison for assigned areas. Writes/edits sports information releases and materials. |

| Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities |
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a sports information/communications program, preferably in a college/university environment; or the equivalent.
- Ability to develop and manage sports information programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with athletes, coaches, sports media, alumni, staff of the College, from national and regional organizations and other universities and colleges.
- Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
- Skill in the use of computer software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Genius and StatCrew.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Skill in public speaking, public address or radio required.
- Photography and video experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise and prioritize the work of others.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member with initiative and sound judgment.
- Must work nights and weekends and have a valid driver's license.

Athletics Communications Strategy Development
- Evaluates and develops athletics communications strategies responsive to the needs of sports for which assigned responsibility and determines priorities.
- Establishes department goals and objectives and develops policies and procedures.
- Accomplishes long- and short-range planning.

- Manages assigned budgets.
- Monitors and evaluates program performance and makes adjustments as necessary.

| Description |
Staff Supervision & Development
- Supervises staff and or students in activities such as coverage of games and events, writing informational releases, maintenance of statistics and records, research, public address system operation, etc. Recruits for and helps select new hires. Provides needed orientation and training. Makes/schedules work assignments. Provides work review and guidance as necessary.
- Organizes program support for assigned games and events. Analyzes needs and determines how they are to be met, e.g., assigns writers photographers, and statisticians; responds to logistical needs of the media, including radio/TV access, seating, stands for equipment set up, etc.
- Serves as game-day coordinator for television at assigned events, coordinating, parking, food and beverage service, internet service and telephones. Contacts visiting schools for relevant information and statistics. Ensures proper operation of the scoreboard and public address system. Ensures all support is in place; responds to unanticipated needs. Provides post game statistics and reports.

| Description |
Web Site, Publications Coordination & Development
- Oversees use of desktop publishing software and trains other office personnel.
- Updates web site for assigned sports.
- Produces video content for website and other content (graphics, links, etc.) for social media.
- Writes and edits copy and stories for game programs, brochures, newsletters, etc.
- Edits copy written by subordinates and others when needed
- Compiles information for and writes press releases prior to and after games and for special events.
- Serves as public relations liaison to the media on sports information for assigned sports.
- Sets up, attends, and as necessary orchestrates interviews and press conferences with the press for athletes and coaches.
- Advises on how to handle interviews.
- Develops and maintains rapport with representatives of the news media and notifies them of special events or breaking news items.
- Coordinates major press releases with College Public Affairs Office and Director of Athletics Communications Strategy.
- Answers requests for information from organizations such as NCAA, Ivy League conference office, Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and from other universities and colleges.

Statistical Management & Reporting
- Oversees the updates and maintenance of all hard copy and automated sports records in assigned sports. Assists with operation of in-game statistical software in all sports.
- Oversees the proper maintenance of the catalog and complete inventory of photographs and video and the provision of photos out of existing inventory to newspapers, magazines and other departments, in assigned sports.
