Maintenance Technician - JLL

What this job involves:

The Maintenance Technician (Carpentry Focus) is responsible for executing all maintenance and repair activities related to carpentry work within laboratory and office environments. This position serves as a key liaison between maintenance teams and clients to plan, estimate, organize, and schedule required work prior to execution. The role requires proficiency in computer systems to document hours, materials, and work order notes, ensuring all data is properly stored according to established maintenance program procedures. This position involves extensive walking throughout the facility.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Carpentry & Fabrication

  • Install and relocate lab furniture in accordance with client specifications

  • Fabricate lab furniture using ITEM material systems (comprehensive training provided)

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on doors, windows, blinds, and office furniture

  • Install fixtures including pictures, keyboard trays, and office furniture components

Maintenance Operations

  • Conduct general maintenance on laboratory equipment and facility infrastructure

  • Review, prioritize, and execute work order requests in a timely manner

  • Determine activities, materials, and labor requirements for work order completion

  • Communicate effectively with work order requesters regarding scope, timeline, and completion status

Safety & Client Coordination

  • Complete all work in accordance with safety protocols and operational requirements

  • Coordinate with client representatives to schedule work within negotiated downtime windows

  • Ensure all work activities minimize disruption to laboratory operations

Required Qualifications Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1-3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or operations with applicable skilled trade background

  • Carpentry skills including fabrication, installation, and repair

  • Laboratory furniture installation and maintenance experience

  • General building maintenance and repair capabilities

  • Equipment inspection and preventative maintenance knowledge

  • Proficiency with maintenance management software systems

Professional Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities

  • Proven ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels, external contractors, and engineering professionals

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

  • Exceptional time management and organizational capabilities

  • Meticulous attention to detail with commitment to quality workmanship

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within team environments

  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and dynamic work schedules

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move objects exceeding 50 lbs

  • Capability to navigate extensive walking throughout facility operations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and scheduling maintenance activities

  • Familiarity with laboratory furniture systems and laboratory environments

  • Comprehensive knowledge of building systems and equipment maintenance

  • Proven experience working with diverse materials and carpentry tools

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Location:

Onsite - Ashburn, VA

Work Shift:

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Salary/ Comp:

$26.00 - $29 .00 USD per hour
