Description

Safety is #1 at BTD:Our expectation is that every employee:1) Strictly follows safety policies, rules, and safe work methods.2) Promptly corrects or reports safety hazards or unsafe conditions. Promptly reports injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) Makes regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous improvement in safety.

Essential Functions:




  1. Capable of performing all Quality Engineer I job functions.



  1. Capable of creating and updating quality tools to convey customer expectations to the organization, primarily EQCP's, MFG's and prints as needed.



  1. Familiar with all quality department inspection processes and part inspection reports. Capable of assisting QA and production in the development of new or changing parts.



  1. When needed works directly with the customer for print request changes, deviations and submitting PPAP.



  1. Works with QA Manager and leadership to ensure BTD's quality reputation and customer expectations are not compromised.



  1. Works with Product Launch team on new part launch process, to ensure manufacturability of new products; reviews prints, customer specifications, and solid model if provided and participates in tooling design reviews. As needed works with BTD and customer to implement actions to assure parts meet customer requirements.



  1. Where problematic parts exist, in regard to process capability and as it affects part quality, engages Engineering, QA and process experts to improve process capability.



  1. Works with Product Launch team, Sales, QA Manager, and their customers to understand customer's specifications, part application, inspection methods, production processes and all other factors affecting the production of the customer's parts.



  1. Works with Sales and the QA Manager to establish working relationships with customers, to assure that communication is being executed effectively. Communicates in person with customers as needed.



  1. Identifies weaknesses in BTD processes that negatively affect part quality and contributes ideas for corrective action. Works with leadership to make suggestions to improve processes.



  1. While working with QA Manager and leadership, participates in corrective action process; works cooperatively with responsible area to ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented. Leads containment activity and ensures customer relationship and BTD image are not adversely affected from quality spill.



  1. Responsible for assigning SPS storyboard for major quality problems. Works with QA Manager and problem-solving team in completing SPS storyboard.



  1. With guidance for QA Manager and leadership to create and implement customer QIP's as needed. Keeps customer updated on progress and works with customer on QIP terms, conveys terms to the organization.



  1. Understands the process to create process flow diagrams, PFMEA's, and control plans as required for PPAP submission. Works with QA manager to allocate resources to assure that PPAP requirements are met for their customer accounts.



  1. Performs audits (ISO/LPA's) to validate adherence to BTD management system; assists QA Manager and leadership with developing appropriate corrective actions.



  1. Can coordinate the internal and external ISO audit system and works closely with QA management to assure that ISO audit system requirements are met.



  1. Can provide, communicate, and implement ideas that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost in part processing.



  1. Adhere to BTD's employee safety manual.



  1. Complies with BTD's management system and processes.



  1. Performs other work-related duties as requested.



Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of BTD manufacturing or quality department experience or previous outside experience. Strong Customer Print reading skills and part application.

Experience and Skills Required: At least two years of recent BTD experience in operations, manufacturing engineering or quality (outside experience in similar organizations with similar processes may substitute) which include the following skills and abilities:



  1. Ability to effectively communicate with computer, phone, drawings, and written skills.



  1. Possesses the skills to manage customer quality projects.



  1. Strong working knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods, and practices in use of metal manufacturing operations.



  1. Working knowledge of medium to heavy manufacturing environment.



  1. Ability to read, interpret and understand the use and application of production blueprints and specifications.



  1. Ability to perform quality inspections of products.



  1. Ability to establish, encourage and maintain effective working relationships with others.



  1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.



  1. Experience using SolidWorks.



  1. Must possess a valid Driver's License.

Compensation Salary Range: OTC10 $66,066--99,129 per hour. The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(K) match, etc.
