What to Expect
We are looking for a highly motivated, technical application support engineer to join the Factory Software team. You will join a small, expert team that supports the operational health of the systems that manufacture our cars and products. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer who blends SRE expertise with strong relationship-building, deep technical problem-solving, and knowledge of enterprise level systems (MES, WMS, ERP). You will be expected to set the technical direction for how we keep these systems reliable at scale and to mentor others on the team. You are expected to actively participate in production bridge calls and drive them to resolution.
What You'll Do
- Understand and own the end-to-end integration and reliability of MES and ERP applications
- Define and drive SLOs and reliability standards across critical factory software systems
- Work directly with software developers and users on the production floor to understand issues and provide solutions in real-time
- Create workarounds for issues that require immediate solutions if a permanent one is not immediately available, then drive permanent fixes upstream with development teams
- Document troubleshooting guides and provide training to users so that they are empowered to resolve issues on their own
- Design and implement automation, observability, and monitoring systems to optimize utilization and reliability of factory software
- Lead post-incident reviews and root-cause analyses, turning findings into long-term reliability improvements
- Work as an incident commander of production critical calls that require coordination between cross-functional teams
- Mentor support engineers, set technical best practices, and influence the broader support roadmap for factory software reliability
What You'll Bring
- Degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of support, SRE, or DevOps engineering experience and strong working knowledge of SQL
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud or on-prem infrastructure
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and managing infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
- Strong experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk
- Deep understanding of distributed and integrated systems, their dependencies, and failure modes
- Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentoring engineers and driving cross-team technical initiatives
- Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic and a self-starter
- Strong organizational skills along with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
