DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports the work of the Bureau by helping review applications, organize materials, and assist in carrying out important oversight activities. It provides structured learning and hands-on experience in many aspects of health insurance regulation. As a Public Health Program Associate 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Application Review: Review applications for completeness and accuracy based on laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Policy Support: Assist in the development of policy materials, program proposals, and related documents
  • Inquiry Monitoring: Monitor incoming questions to identify trends that may require additional guidance or support
  • Case Preparation: Learn how to prepare, organize, and support consumer appeal case reviews
  • Data Familiarization: Become familiar with data collection processes to help prepare reports and analyses
  • Team Assistance: Support staff in activities related to compliance with state and federal requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in health, social or behavioral sciences, statistics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
