Position summary

The Practice Innovation Product Specialist will report directly to the Senior Manager of Practice Innovation and will work closely with IS leadership to design, build, and scale technology-enabled workflows that enhance legal service delivery across both litigation and transactional practices harnessing the firms current and expanding legal technology and AI enabled portfolio.

At the direction of team leadership, this individual will translate legal best practices into repeatable, data-informed workflows; acting as a trusted liaison between legal teams and technical stakeholders. The Practice Innovation Product Specialist will evaluate and identify the most appropriate product and features to address specific use cases, providing hands-on support for solution configuration and troubleshooting, oversee user acceptance testing, coordinate vendor engagements, and help establish governance, metrics, and documentation that helps to ensure that technology enhances legal service delivery, operational efficiency, and client value directly in line with the firm and Information Services department strategies.

Position responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of designated tools and applications within the current and future legal technology portfolio of the firm
  • Collaborate with legal teams, information services, and operations leaders to identify and evaluate use cases to design, implement, and scale technology solutions
  • Liaise with legal team members to map current workflows to appropriate technology solutions
  • Develop queries, prompts, review templates, workflows, and automations to support and enhance current legal practices
  • Review, maintain, and update existing and future technology enabled workflows
  • Test and refine solutions with subject matter experts
  • Draft, maintain, and update documentation for templates, workflows, and automations within the firm's legal technology solutions
  • Develop and execute training plans for deployment of legal technology solutions for relevant colleagues to enable their ability to drive adoption and awareness of the firm's legal technology solutions

Experience, skills, and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; JD preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in legal technology, innovation, or legal operations within a law firm or professional services environment required.
  • Must live within a commutable distance to the applicable firm office with the ability to come into the office 3-4 days per week.
  • Deep understanding of the legal technology landscape and best practices, including AI, automation, and workflow tools and services.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable guidance.
  • Experience with vendor relationships. In particular, the ability to liaise with technical support
  • Experience with data governance, data science, and business intelligence.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security best practices.
  • Comprehensive awareness of the legal tech / AI landscape, including market developments, vendor solutions and practical applications in the legal domain.
  • Significant experience in an AmLaw 50 or global law firm environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and design thinking principles preferred.
  • Proven experience with AI enabled legal technology; building and governing prompt libraries, creating structured review templates, checklists, and playbooks.
  • Proficiency with document automation, knowledge management, workflow orchestration, data extraction, and collaboration platforms common within large law firms
  • Demonstrated success in mapping and optimizing legal workflows across litigation and transactional matters, with a track record converting requirements into deployed solutions

SALARY

Illinois applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $113,000-$147,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

New York applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $125,000-$160,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
Washington, DC applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $120,000-$155,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
