Description
The Grounds & Custodial position performs a variety of custodial, groundskeeping, maintenance, and event support duties at Muskego High School. Responsibilities include maintaining athletic fields and landscaped areas, supporting building cleanliness and operations, assisting with snow removal, event setups, and ensuring district facilities are maintained to a high standard. School year hours will typically be 2nd shift, with breaks and summer primarily being first shift.

Essential Job Functions
Custodial Responsibilities:
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and maintain floors.
  • Dust and clean classrooms, offices, locker rooms, and common areas.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms.
  • Perform event setup and teardown for school and community activities.
  • Support facility users and accommodate building events.
Grounds & Athletic Field Responsibilities:
  • Mow, trim, edge, and maintain athletic fields and landscaped areas.
  • Stripe athletic fields and perform field layout duties.
  • Seed, aerate, and groom turf areas.
  • Perform landscape maintenance and seasonal grounds projects.
  • Operate and maintain grounds equipment and vehicles.
  • Assist with snow plowing, salting, and winter operations.
  • Assist in maintaining grounds records and documentation.
  • Support safe operations of grounds, equipment, and facilities.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Physical Requirements
The successful candidate must be able to:
  • Stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, grip, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, and carry materials weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Occasionally climb ladders and work at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Operate trucks, tractors, skid loaders, plows, and other equipment.
  • Work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
  • Respond to snow and weather-related events, which may require schedule adjustments.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to utilize email, Google, and basic technology tools.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as operational needs require.
  • Ability to respond to weather-related emergencies and snow removal operations.
**Hours may vary based on weather events, facility use, athletic schedules, and operational needs. Occasional weekend work may be required.
