Position Overview:

This position will coordinate the successful design, fabrication, startup and handover to manufacturing of new value add equipment at multiple US Value Add locations. Maintain positive relationships with Program Management, Product and Plant engineering, equipment vendors and OEM customers. Primary Project Management duties include equipment scope definition, cost estimating, vendor management, budget and timeline management. Also, feasibility assessments for future products as needed.

This position provides technical and engineering support to both Vitro and Tier 2 value added assembly locations that will ensure reliability and the optimum safe use of the facilities, equipment, and resources to meet customer requirements and plant objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for assigned projects and support the various areas of the plant's facilities. As such, the incumbent ensures appropriate facilities and equipment are available and ready to use for product fabrication. These requirements are based on customer specifications and drawings and are achieved by working with both customer and vendor representatives.

Responsibilities:



  • Successfully launch and handover to the manufacturing plant value add equipment meeting OEM customer requirements.
  • Provide Value add process equipment that produces parts that are within customer specification and achieves the quoted cycle time, yield and uptime.
  • Complete PFMEAs, Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams for value add processes that address all potential quality issues and include a risk reduction plan.
  • Provide accurate and timely cost estimates
  • Develop Equipment standards for Value Add processes across the business and share Best Practices
  • Develop Maintenance recommendations for new or modified equipment
  • Manage equipment vendors so that key timing and budget milestones are met over the course of a capital project.
  • Interface directly with Program Management, Product Engineering, Process Engineering and OEM customers to ensure that equipment is designed to meet all operations and customer specifications.
  • Provide technical support on value added customer spills to minimize the negative effects on the customer.


Qualifications:



  • The incumbent must be able to assume responsibility for medium to large sized capital projects that would include scope development, funding approval, equipment design and vendor management as well as limited supervision of personnel involved in the project.
  • Ability to be self-directed with proven experience in driving the changes needed to meet project goals.
  • Ability to provide hands-on technical support for assigned projects.
  • Knowledge of human relations skills and the ability to work with all levels in the organization as well as vendors and customers.

  • Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project)


Preferred Skills:



  • Experience with AutoCAD or other design software and mechanical design principles
  • Experience with robotic cells using vision systems
  • The ability to interpret customer specifications and GD&T drawings
  • Experience in the automotive industry and with automotive glass
