About the Role

HDR is seeking a Resources Geospatial Business Class Lead to lead geospatial services across the Resources Business Group (Power, Waste, Industrial).

This is a hybrid leadership role combining:

  • Geospatial Business Class Leadership (~30%)
  • Resources Cross Sector Technology Lead (~30%)
  • Technical Project Execution / Project Leadership (~40%)

You will connect technical delivery, strategy, and innovation while working closely with leadership and technology teams.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Resources Geospatial Business Class Leader (BCL) is to provide leadership, coordination, and advancement of geospatial technical services and technology integration within HDR's Resources Business Group.

This position reports to the Resources Professional Services Cross Sector Director through an operating Area and maintains close coordination with the Geospatial Cross Sector Director, Resources Technology Director, Cross Sector Technology Director and market sector leadership.

The BCL will leverage HDR performance metrics and tools to monitor the health and performance of the Resources Geospatial business class and support continued business group success.

The BCL serves as a senior technical and strategic leader along with advancing the alignment, integration and strategic director for technology within the Resources Business Group. This role will help shape our strategic plan for the next three to five years, and positioning HDR as a differentiator in the marketplace.

Key responsibilities for each role include:

Geospatial Business Class Leadership

  • Lead and advance GIS capabilities across the business group.
  • Support growth, technical excellence, and delivery integration
  • Align solutions with client and strategic goals.
  • Support pursuits with geospatial-enabled solutions.
  • Develop tools, workflows, and best practices.
  • Support staff development, mentoring, and recruitment

Cross Sector Technology Leadership

  • Support initiatives to optimize project execution including the advancement and implementation of technology related to digital delivery, data management, optimization, automation, and visualization.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and technology innovations
  • Develop strategies for cross sectors (i.e. sustainability and resilience, right of way, environmental sciences and planning, strategic communications, management consulting) to foster technology talent collaboration and skills development.
  • Coordination and collaboration with Resources Cross Sector BCLs and Cross Sector Technology Director.

  • Experience with Geospatial strategy or innovation initiatives.
  • Experience supporting strategic pursuits, proposal efforts, and client development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated industry involvement and professional visibility through organizations, presentations, or publications.
  • Experience with ESRI platforms.
  • A strong data fluency (and curiosity to keep learning)
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to all levels of the organization.
  • Master's degree.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in related field
  • Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) The pay range for this position in North America (based on experience and location) is $175,000 - $235,000.
