The Carpenter position is part of the Campus Facilities Management (CFM) team and is responsible for performing skilled work on a journey level in the construction, maintenance, repair and alteration of campus structures and equipment. All work is subject to spot checking and inspection for conformance to specifications and accepted standards of the trade. Key Responsibilities Perform repair, service and maintenance of the physical structure of one or more buildings. Perform or assist with construction, maintenance, repair, alteration of campus structures, equipment and other building components and accessories. Assemble materials and tools. Clean, sharpen and adjust tools as required. Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools in conformance with local building codes. Prepare layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers. Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gage. Shape materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes. Assemble, cut and shape materials and fasten them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue. Verify trueness of structures with plumb bob and carpenter's level. May study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required (such as lumber or fiberboard) and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated as well as preparation of cost estimates, maintenance of records and preparation of reports.
Perform other duties as assigned. Shift

Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $25.00 to $28.00 hourly. This position is eligible for a $1,500 hiring incentive (see HR-104 Hiring Incentives for Faculty and Staff). Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. The University of Missouri provides generous leave, health plans, and retirement contributions that add to your bottom line.
