The Macro Helix Software Engineer is a mid-level contributor responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that support the company's platform and business objectives. This role works closely with product owners, lead developers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions using modern cloud and data technologies. The ideal candidate brings hands-on development experience across the full software lifecycle and leverages AI-assisted tools to accelerate technical design and implementation. The Macro Helix Software Engineer is a mid-level contributor responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that support the company's platform and business objectives. This role works closely with product owners, lead developers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions using modern cloud and data technologies. The ideal candidate brings hands-on development experience across the full software lifecycle and leverages AI-assisted tools to accelerate technical design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions using Blazor, .NET, SQL, Databricks, and Python. Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code following team standards and best practices. Participate in code reviews with lead developers and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners to understand, clarify, and refine business requirements. Translate business needs into well-defined technical specifications. Actively participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and requirements review sessions to ensure alignment between business goals and technical deliverables.

  • Work with lead developers and the manager to architect and design technical solutions in response to business feature requests. Evaluate technical options, assess trade-offs, and contribute to solution design discussions. Produce architecture documentation and technical specifications to support development and stakeholder communication.

  • Partner with the QA team to review test plans, participate in test execution, and ensure that developed solutions meet defined acceptance criteria. Support defect triage, assist in root cause analysis, and contribute to overall software quality throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Leverage AI Agents and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate the creation of technical specifications, code generation, and documentation. Stay current with emerging AI development capabilities and apply them pragmatically to improve engineering efficiency and output quality.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Typically has 3-5+ years of software development experience.

Critical Skills

  • 4+ years of hands-on software development experience with .NET and SQL in a professional environment.

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, collaborating with Product Owners on requirements and with QA teams on testing and quality assurance.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficiency in Blazor and .NET for web application development.

  • Experience with Databricks and Python for data engineering and analytics workloads.

  • Familiarity with OKTA for identity and access management, and Azure/Azure DevOps for cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Working knowledge of GitHub for source control and JIRA for project and issue tracking.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Demonstrated experience using AI Agents and AI-assisted tools (such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to write code, generate technical specifications, and improve development efficiency.

  • Solid understanding of software development best practices including code reviews, version control, and automated testing.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Travel

10% travel to attend in person meetings is required

This role is a hybrid position. The selected candidate is expected to work on-site at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two (2) days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. Specific in-office days may be designated based on team needs and business priorities.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$106,100 - $176,800
