A Brief Overview
The Sr. Director of Advanced Practice provides strategic and operational leadership related to advanced practice roles at CHOP. The Sr. Director provides operational, programmatic, and strategic support for Advanced practice Provider (APP) practice. The Sr. Director of Advanced Practice works collaboratively with physician, nursing, and administrative colleagues to leverage the role of the APP. This includes the setting of standards, development of systems, supervision of personnel, and coordination with other disciplines and departments to achieve the mission and goals of the hospital.

What you will do

  • Creates systems to demonstrate APP value through outcomes/metrics including cost-effectiveness ratios, clinical outcomes, and satisfaction outcomes (including patient/family, nurse, physician & APP).
  • Analyzes current and future trends in the use of APP and APP scope of practice to ensure CHOP APP positions maximize scope of practice.
  • Maintains current knowledge of APP scope of practice issues locally, regionally, and nationally. Ensures CHOP leaders (physician, nurse, and administrative) are educated on current trends including but not limited to policy, education, certification and scope of practice.
  • Works with divisional APPs, physician, nurse, and administrative leaders to evaluate current role scope and utilization/productivity. Makes recommendations to enhance scope and productivity of APP role.
  • Analyzes requests for new APP resources and works with physician, nurse, and administrative leaders to introduce new APP roles into a service/division.
  • Collaborates with appropriate departments on financial and billing matters relevant to APP practice.
  • Stays abreast of APP billing/reimbursement local and national trends.
  • Focuses on financial stewardship that ensures CHOP practices maximize APP reimbursement consistent with state practice regulations.
  • Analyzes funding arrangements to ensure appropriate funding allocations.
  • Develops systems to measure APP productivity.
  • APP recruitment, retention, and engagement
  • Supports the implementation of effective systems for APP recruitment.
  • Performs ongoing assessments of APN retention factors and creates programs to maximize retention.
  • Collaborates with the Medical Staff Affairs on routine cycle APP credentialing and privileging. Chairs the APP Credentialing Committee
  • Partners with advanced degree graduate programs on APP-related curriculum & workforce matters.
  • Collaborates with HR/Compensation to analyze APP compensation and ensure market competitiveness

Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Nursing, MBA, MHA, or Physician Assistant Required
  • Doctorate DNP or PhD Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least eight (8) years progressive Nursing experience Required or
  • At least eight (8) years progessive Physician Assistant experience Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of hospital personnel.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and implement multiple tasks simultaneously.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or
  • Medical Physician Assistant (MPA) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
  • Specialty Certification - APP in a clinical areas of expertise - upon hire - Required

SALARY RANGE:

$100,000.00 - $375,000.00 Annually

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
