Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking to hire a Paralegal to join the Public Finance practice group. The Paralegal will work closely with attorneys in the Public Finance practice group and have opportunities for direct contact with clients. The position requires an in-office presence but includes flexibility for some remote work.

The responsibilities of the Paralegal will include:

  • Drafting and updating closing checklists.
  • Drafting, reviewing and proofreading ancillary documents for various transactions.
  • Obtaining and organizing signature pages, preparing execution versions and closing sets, and coordinating the closing of transactions.
  • Communicating with attorneys, clients, and third parties regarding active transactions to resolve issues and keep matters on track.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have excellent document production skills (typing, spelling, grammar and punctuation) and time management skills, as well as strong interpersonal, analytical, research and writing skills. The ability to project professional presence and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments is essential. Public finance, real estate or banking experience is a plus.

  • At least five years of transactional experience and ability to bill at least 1,500 hours per year
  • Demonstrated ability to use Word, Excel, document management and redlining applications and time keeping programs
  • Commitment to client service and the ability to work independently and manage multiple fast-pased matters under deadline pressure
  • Attention to detail and timelines and ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills required in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff
  • Ability to understand and utilize computer equipment, software and search tools in order to locate information, set up databases and spreadsheets and work with form documents and other applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Committed to following all Firm security protocols and maintaining information security

In accordance with pay transparency laws, the expected salary range for this position is $75,000 - $120,000. The benefits overview for this position is available for review at the below link.
