Job Title: Director, North America Ecommerce, Kate Spade

Primary Purpose: The Director, Ecommerce is responsible for leading the day-to-day commercial performance of the Kate Spade North America ecommerce business across four websites: Kate Spade Retail U.S., Kate Spade Outlet U.S., Kate Spade Retail Canada, and Kate Spade Outlet Canada. This role owns the development and execution of the daily ecommerce strategies that drive revenue growth, profitability, customer engagement, and brand affinity while delivering a best-in-class digital shopping experience. Serving as the business owner for the North America ecommerce channel, the Director translates enterprise priorities into actionable commercial strategies by leveraging customer insights, business analytics, and market trends to optimize conversion, site merchandising, product discovery, content strategy, promotional effectiveness, and the end-to-end customer journey. Partnering cross-functionally across Merchandising, Buying & Planning, Marketing, Creative, Digital Product, Technology, Analytics, Operations, and Customer Experience, the Director leads the successful execution of key business initiatives, influences cross-functional priorities, and ensures alignment against financial and customer objectives. This role also builds, coaches, and develops a high-performing ecommerce team while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous optimization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Own the North America Ecommerce Business

  • Own the day-to-day commercial performance of the North America ecommerce business across four websites, with accountability for delivering revenue, conversion, profitability, customer engagement, and other key performance indicators.
  • Develop and execute seasonal and annual ecommerce strategies that support business objectives while identifying opportunities to accelerate growth and improve business performance.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly business trends, proactively identifying risks and opportunities and implementing action plans to achieve financial targets.
  • Lead weekly business recaps, executive reporting, and performance updates, providing actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Lead Digital Merchandising & Operations

  • Define and execute onsite merchandising, promotional, content, and customer journey strategies that optimize conversion and deliver a premium brand experience.
  • Oversee homepage strategy, navigation, category merchandising, search optimization, product discovery, promotional campaigns, and content placement across all North America ecommerce sites.
  • Partner with Creative and Marketing teams to develop compelling digital storytelling that supports brand priorities and commercial objectives.
  • Champion continuous improvements to the digital customer experience through data-driven optimization and customer feedback.

Drive Cross-Functional Business Leadership

  • Serve as the primary ecommerce business partner across Merchandising, Buying & Planning, Marketing, CRM, Creative, Product, Technology, Analytics, Operations, and Customer Care.
  • Influence cross-functional priorities and align teams around seasonal launches, promotional strategies, inventory opportunities, customer initiatives, and business objectives.
  • Ensure flawless execution of all site launches, promotional events, and key commercial initiatives.

Leverage Analytics to Drive Growth

  • Establish and monitor KPIs that measure the health and performance of the North America ecommerce business.
  • Analyze customer behavior, business trends, competitive insights, and digital performance to develop actionable recommendations that improve revenue, conversion, engagement, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the testing and optimization roadmap, partnering with Analytics, UX, and Product teams to validate enhancements and maximize business impact.

Drive Digital Innovation

  • Partner with cross functional teams to prioritize enhancements that improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and ecommerce performance.
  • Identify emerging digital trends, technologies, and competitive best practices that support long-term business growth.
  • Champion continuous innovation through experimentation, personalization, search optimization, AI-enabled capabilities, and evolving ecommerce best practices.

Lead & Develop the Team

  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing ecommerce team, providing mentorship, clear priorities, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, customer-centric thinking, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish team processes and operating rhythms that support efficient execution and scalable business growth.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive ecommerce leadership experience within retail, fashion, luxury, or consumer brands.
  • Demonstrated success managing a high-volume ecommerce business with accountability for commercial performance and financial results.
  • Deep expertise in ecommerce merchandising, digital customer experience, promotional strategy, analytics, and omnichannel retail.
  • Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (Demandware), Google Analytics (GA4), content management systems, A/B testing platforms, and digital merchandising tools.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and lead complex initiatives within a matrixed organization.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into business actions.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and executive storytelling skills.
  • Experience leading, developing, and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
