We provide scalable accounting solutions tailored to the unique needs of insurance clients, with a particular focus on statutory and GAAP accounting, regulatory reporting, financial statement preparation, and accounting operations. In this role, you will work closely with insurance company leadership to oversee accounting functions, strengthen reporting processes, and help clients meet statutory and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings significant accounting experience within the insurance industry and direct knowledge of statutory accounting principles (SAP), statutory financial reporting, and U.S. GAAP accounting applicable to insurance companies. What You Will Do: Build and maintain trusted relationships with executive and finance leaders at insurance organizations, aligning outsourced accounting services with client needs and business objectives. Lead end-to-end outsourced accounting engagements for insurance clients, overseeing accounting operations, financial close, reporting, systems, and processes. Oversee the preparation and review of statutory and GAAP financial statements and regulatory reporting for insurance entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable requirements. Identify and implement improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across client accounting functions. Oversee full-cycle accounting and financial reporting while ensuring deliverables meet client, regulatory, and firm quality standards. Review complex statutory and GAAP financial reporting deliverables for consistency, accuracy, and compliance. Drive the adoption of tools and technologies that streamline accounting and reporting workflows and enhance client value. Partner with firm leadership on proposals and presentations, supporting the growth of the firm's insurance-focused outsourced accounting services. Represent the firm at industry events and forums, strengthening relationships within the insurance marketplace and identifying new opportunities. Mentor and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field. 9+ years of relevant accounting experience in public accounting and/or organizational accounting operations. Demonstrated experience working with insurance companies and insurance-related accounting and financial reporting, including U.S. GAAP accounting for insurance companies. Hands-on experience with statutory accounting and statutory financial reporting for insurance entities. Strong understanding of accounting system workflows, financial statement preparation, financial close processes, and accounting operations. Experience supervising accounting professionals and reviewing complex financial deliverables. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications: Current and valid CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license. Experience working in public accounting, consulting, outsourced accounting, or an insurance company accounting/finance function. Preferred experience with Gain Compliance Software or comparable NAIC-approved annual statement software, as well as CaseWare, Fixed Assets CS, Bill.com, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Intacct, or similar accounting and general ledger platforms.
