Senior Project Safety Specialist

Please note our clients and projects are nationwide - Travel will be required.

In this role, you will manage project-specific safety and health concerns, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and the protection of employees, contract partners, clients, and the public.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct Initial Safety Audits & Establish Inspection Schedules: Within 15 days of project mobilization, partner with the Project Superintendent to conduct an initial site safety audit. Develop, implement, and maintain a project-specific inspection schedule based on project scope, risk exposure, client requirements, and team feedback.

• Ensure Compliance with Safety Standards: Support the Project Superintendent in enforcing the Haskell Code of Safe Practices by ensuring all site personnel complete required safety orientations, adhere to established safety procedures, and have access to current safety documentation.

• Support Safety Administration & Reporting: Assist with safety-related administrative functions, including accident investigations, documentation, recordkeeping, and compliance reporting. Conduct routine safety inspections and corrective action audits, providing recommendations to the Project Superintendent for hazard resolution.

• Implement Training & Hazard Mitigation Programs: Develop and deliver project-specific safety training. Identify and address imminent danger situations, stop work when necessary, and coordinate immediate corrective actions while ensuring affected personnel receive appropriate training and guidance.

• Communicate & Report Safety Concerns: Maintain regular communication with the Manager of Safety regarding project safety performance, concerns, and incident trends. Complete and submit a Safety Evaluation Report (SER) for each assigned project at least every six weeks and participate in project kick-off, design-for-safety, and pre-construction meetings as required.

• Enforce Safety Policies & Investigate Incidents: Consistently enforce established safety policies and disciplinary procedures. Conduct thorough incident and accident investigations and assist the Project Superintendent in ensuring timely reporting, documentation, and follow-up actions.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

• Minimum of 5 years of active construction safety experience with a recognized industry safety certification, or 5-7 years of active construction safety experience without a certification, with the ability to obtain an approved certification within 12 months of hire.

• Demonstrated leadership and consistent performance while serving as a Senior Project Safety Coordinator on a minimum of three project assignments totaling at least 24 months.

• Experience supporting projects within the Advanced Technology, Mission Critical, Manufacturing, and Industrial Water markets.

• Successful completion of OSHA Course #500.

• Possession of a recognized safety certification such as STS, CSST, or CSSS through BCSP or NCCER, or the ability to obtain one within the required timeframe.

• Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all applicable federal, state, local, and company safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

• Strong ability to identify hazardous conditions, assess risk, and implement effective corrective actions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
