Starting Hourly Rate Based on Qualifications: $24.73JOB SUMMARY, DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS: Job Summary The Diesel Instructional Assistant role supports Diesel Technology faculty in delivering safe, effective, hands-on instruction by preparing and maintaining instructional laboratories, equipment, tools, vehicles, and materials; reinforcing faculty-led instruction and demonstrations; assisting students as they practice assigned competencies; monitoring students' adherence to established safety procedures; and providing faculty with observations regarding student progress and support needs. The Instructional Assistant works under the direction of faculty and does not independently determine curriculum, assign grades, evaluate final competency achievement, or replace the faculty member's responsibility for instruction and assessment. This position is funded by a grant which has a projected grant end date of June 30, 2028. Funding for this position beyond this date is dependent upon budget and operational needs. This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week, 33 weeks per year. Essential Functions and Responsibilities The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Minimum Qualifications Required In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Education: High School Education / GED Associate degree in a related field preferred. Experience: 3 Years Additional Experience Information: At least 3 years' experience in the Diesel Equipment repair industry. Must be astute in Math calculations as related to diesel repair. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities In order to perform the functions and responsibilities of the position (listed above) the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, including language skills, reasoning and mathematical abilities are essential. Language Skills: Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, reports and emails; speak and may present information to groups. Math Skills: Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rate, ratio, and percent. Reasoning Ability: Ability to critically think and solve problems involving a variety of concrete variables with limited standardization; interpret written, oral and diagrammed instructions. Technical Skills: Ability to manage and track document changes; create, modify and format templates and files; ability to use multiple computer screens and multitask in several computer applications. Customer Service Skills: Ability to actively listen, discern key information, and respond professionally; ask follow up or clarifying questions to diffuse escalated situations and offer appropriate problem resolution when necessary.
